A special visit to Vienna’s main theatre — the Burgtheater

And not just any visit — we’ll enter the theatre while restoration works are underway.

The team will let our group in during the builders’ lunch break, giving us rare access to areas normally closed to visitors.

And getting this extra slot… let’s just say it took Bella quite an effort 🙈
Tickets for this experience are released only once a month (for the following month) and usually sell out in about three minutes.

We chose to visit the Burgtheater right now, while the restorers are working on the frescoes, so that we can:

❤️‍🔥 see the restored ceiling frescoes by Gustav Klimt up close
❤️‍🔥 view Klimt’s original preparatory cartoons — extremely fragile works on paper that are rarely displayed and usually kept in special archives
❤️‍🔥 learn what makes the design drawings by Angelika Prokopp so unique
❤️‍🔥 actually climb the construction scaffolding and examine the frescoes closely — what has already been restored and what still remains to be done
